The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team recorded a key victory for its hopes of repeating as Northeast-10 Champions as it defeated Adelphi University, 6-3, Sunday afternoon at the Adelphi Tennis Courts.

Juniors Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) and Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) notched an 8-3 No. 1 doubles victory against Matteo Cannavera and Uladzislau Litvinchuk, while fellow juniors Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) doubled up Roey Heymann and Sabin Adrian Saveluc, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles, to give the Penmen a 2-1 edge heading to singles play.

Fernandes battled to a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win against Cannavera at No. 1 singles, while Ricardo Marreiros topped Litvinchuk, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2. Miguel Marreiros posted a 6-3, 6-2 win against Heymann at No. 3 singles, with Aubron rounding out the Penmen singles victories by downing Saveluc, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 4 slot.

Notes:
-The Penmen have now won six-in-a-row and extend their NE10 winning streak to 17 straight, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
-Southern New Hampshire can now clinch the NE10 Regular-Season Championship with a win Wednesday against Merrimack College and cannot finish with worse than the second seed for the NE10 Championship.
-SNHU is ranked fourth in the Oracle/ITA East Regional Rankings, while Adelphi is right behind in fifth.

The Penmen return to action Wednesday, April 12 (3 p.m.) when they take on Merrimack. The next and final regular-season home match for SNHU is Friday, April 14 (3 p.m.) when it plays host to Bentley University.
