When and Where: February 17, 2018 – Manchester, N.H. (SNHU Arena)
Score: Saint Anselm College 4, Southern New Hampshire University 1
Records: SNHU 12-8-3 (6-7-2 Northeast-10), Saint Anselm 15-9-1 (11-4-0 Northeast-10)

Sophomore DJ Goldstein (Wareham, Mass.) tallied his eighth goal of the season Saturday, but it was all the offense the Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team could muster as the Penmen fell to Saint Anselm College at the SNHU Arena, 4-1.

The Penmen wrap up their regular season with an overall mark of 12-8-3 and 6-7-2 within the confines of the Northeast-10 Conference. Southern New Hampshire earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NE10 Championship, and will take on the Hawks on February 24 in a semifinal matchup at Sullivan Arena at 7 p.m.

After a scoreless 15-plus minutes of action to open the first, Goldstein broke through for Southern New Hampshire with just over four minutes left. Goldstein started the play by sending a rink-wide breakout pass from the top of his leftwing faceoff circle through the neutral zone to senior Chris Moquin (Hooksett, N.H.) at the far blue line. Moquin tracked down the puck, worked his way around a Saint Anselm defender along the rightwing wall and maintained possession behind the net. As soon as he was clear of the cage, Moquin slid a feed out to Goldstein in the slot and he snapped a wrist shot home to the far post to make it 1-0 at 15:54.

In similar fashion to Friday night's encounter between the two sides, an early Penmen lead was met with four unanswered goals by the Hawks. Bryan Green started the scoring for Saint Anselm at 7:22 of the second when he hammered home a one-timer in the slot from Mike Ferraro to knot things up at one apiece. 10 minutes later, Jeremy Carignan put the visitors ahead for good when he redirected a Shawn Moors blast from the point to send the teams to the third with the Hawks ahead, 2-1.

Carignan set up the insurance marker late in the third when he carried the puck from his own faceoff dot through the neutral zone before lobbing a saucer pass to Green at the offensive blue line. Green gathered the pass at the top of the left wing circle, took one stride to the faceoff dot and unloaded a wrister to the top right corner to extend the Saint Anselm edge to a pair with 2:54 to play. Alec Andreucci provided the final margin of scoring with 54 seconds remaining with an empty netter from inside his own blue line to ice the game.

Senior Ryan Slatky (Manchester, N.H.) stopped 32 shots in the setback while his counterpart, Brenden Cain, picked up his second win of the season with a 23-save performance.

Notes:
- Both sides were unable to convert on any special teams opportunities, as the Hawks were 0-for-4 on the powerplay and the Penmen went scoreless on three man advantage opportunities.
- Southern New Hampshire closes the regular season winless in games in which it scores fewer than three goals. The Penmen were a perfect 12-0-0 when scoring three goals or more, but were winless in the 11 games they did not reach the three-goal plateau.
- SNHU was outshot by a 35-24 margin, including a 21-13 spread over the final 40 minutes of regulation.

What's Next:
The Penmen will make the trip across town on Saturday, February 24 for a Northeast-10 Championship semifinal matchup with Saint Anselm at Sullivan Arena at 7 p.m.
