Men's Tennis Tops Le Moyne, 6-3, for First NE10 Win of Spring

Graduate student Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) and sophomore Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) each secured a pair of wins and the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team nearly swept singles play, as it doubled up Le Moyne College, 6-3, Sunday morning at Elevate Fitness.

Aubron and van Biezen came up big at No. 2 doubles, pulling out an 8-6 victory against Andres Hernandez and Jason Barton to salvage a point and head into singles play trailing, 2-1.

The Penmen took over in individual matches, with graduate student Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) taking the top flight over Philip Blythe, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) was a 6-2, 7-5 winner versus Hernandez at No. 2, with classmate Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) recording a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Barton at No. 3.

Aubron and van Biezen sealed it, posting a 7-5, 6-3 win against Xavier Graells at No. 4 and a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 versus Hallam Doney, respectively.

Notes:
-Southern New Hampshire extends its NE10 winning streak, including the postseason, to 26 straight, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
-The Penmen are ranked No. 4 in the ITA Division II East Regional Rankings, while the Dolphins are eighth.

The Penmen return to action Friday, March 2 (5 p.m.) when they play host to the New York Institute of Technology at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown.
