Men's Tennis Opens Penmen Stadium Courts with 8-1 Win vs. Daemen

Senior Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) was victorious in both his matches and clinched the match with his No. 6 singles win, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team opened the new SNHU Tennis Courts at Penmen Stadium with an 8-1 victory against Daemen College.

Reichentahl and classmate Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) recorded an early 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles against Mark Veitengruber and Pablo Martinez, before fellow seniors Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) notched an 8-3 win at No. 2 against David Gonzalez Villegas and Ricardo Ruiz Martinez to double the lead. Graduate student Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) and sophomore Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) made it a clean sweep of doubles with an 8-1 triumph against Fabian Wilde and Jose Williamson at No. 1.

Fernandes opened singles play by making quick work of Gonzalez Villegas with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1. Reichentahl then clinched the match for the Penmen with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Williamson at No. 6.

Van Biezen continued his winning ways with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Veitengruber at No. 5, with Aubron following by defeating Wilde, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4. Ruiz Martinez then gave the Wildcats their only point of the day when he pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 win at No. 2 against Ricardo Marreiros. Miguel Marreiros capped the contest with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-0 triumph over Tim Georg at No. 3.

Notes:
-Southern New Hampshire has now won four-in-a-row.
-van Biezen, who is 15-2 on the season in singles play, has won 13 of 14, including nine straight.
-The Penmen are ranked No. 4 in the ITA Division II East Regional Rankings.
