Junior Allyson Patterson (Seekonk, Mass.) scored twice to help lift the 22nd-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Assumption College on Saturday evening at Penmen Stadium.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Patterson scored early in the 22nd minute to extend the Penmen lead to 2-0 and gave the hosts a three-goal cushion in the 51st minute.
  • Sophomore Dorthea Glorud (Brumunddal, Norway) notched a goal and an assist, as she broke the ice just 4:18 in and then set up Patterson's first.
  • Fellow sophomore Sydney Carney (Northborough, Mass.) collected a pair of assists on Glorud's strike and then a marker from senior Alexis Fruzzetti (Hanson, Mass.) that capped the scoring.
  • Sophomore goalie Hannah Rose (Waterloo, Ontario) stopped all nine shots she faced for her third shutout of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Assumption's Alexis Nason made six saves.
  • The Penmen edged the Greyhounds in shots, 19-17, including 12-9 in the second stanza.
  • SNHU also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
NOTES
  • SNHU has now won five of its last six, including four straight, while halting Assumption's four-match winning streak.
  • Patterson, who has recorded at least one point in 11 of 12 matches this season, including nine straight, holds the team lead in points (23) and goals (10). Carney leads the squad in assists (10), is second in points (20) and third in goals (5). Glorud is second in goals (7), assists (6) and points (20).
  • Patterson is the first 10-goal scorer for the Penmen since Trisha Luis netted 11 in 2017.
  • It is the first time SNHU has had three 20-point scorers in a season since the 1997 campaign.
  • The Penmen improve to 42-12-8 (.730) over their last 63 matches dating back to the 2016 campaign.
  • SNHU also betters its record to 23-2-2 (.889) at home since the end of the 2016 season.

  • The Penmen return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 (3 p.m.) when they take on Bentley University.
  • The next home contest for SNHU is Saturday, Oct. 26 (2 p.m.) when it plays host to the College of Saint Rose at Penmen Stadium.
