Senior DJ Goldstein (Wareham, Mass.) notched a short-handed goal in the third period, but the Penmen could not get any closer in a 4-1 loss to Stonehill College in NE10 action on Friday at The Ice Den.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- After a scoreless first period in which SNHU outshot the Skyhawks 14-12, Stonehill scored a pair of goals in the second period.
- Sean Conley's second goal of the season for Stonehill came after intercepting a pass at the blue line and burying the shot.
- Ryan Meade scored for the Skyhawks after Zachary Frament took a Penmen attempt to clear and fed his teammate in front of senior Kurt Gutting (Weymouth, Mass.)
- Stonehill's Jack Scannell sent the puck from behind the SNHU net out to junior Kyle Woodruff, who scored his first of the season at 7:52 of the final period to make it 3-0.
- The teams then exchanged short-handed goals, with Goldstein's coming at 11:29 of the period. The unassisted goal was his fourth of the season.
- Stonehill's Kayser Raei completed the scoring with his goal coming at 14:56.
NOTES
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Stonehill 42-38-3. The Penmen won two of the three meetings last season.
- Although both teams hit for short-handed goals, neither had a power play goal. SNHU went 0-2 and the Skyhawks were 0-5.
- After a win on November 22 at Saint Anselm, SNHU was 6-1 and winners of six straight. The Penmen have now dropped seven straight games.
- With a big 18-9 advantage in the third period, the Penmen outshot the Skyhawks on the night 42-38.
