Junior Kyle Gallaway (Sugar Hill, Ga.) scored twice, but Southern New Hampshire fell to Assumption 3-2 in overtime on Friday at The Ice Den.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- After a scoreless first period, Galloway put the Penmen up 1-0 just 40 seconds into the second period.
- It was Galloway's fourth marker of the season, and assists went to freshman James Nash (Hampton, N.H.) and sophomore Andy Somerville (Medford, Mass.).
- Assumption was able to draw even a little over two minutes later on a short-handed goal by Robert Holyoke, his 13th goal of the season.
- The Greyhounds moved in front 2-1 at 9:56 of the middle stanza on an unassisted goal by Robert Roche.
- Galloway tied the game at 2-2 at 13:33 of the second with assists to sophomore Alex Ring (Salem, N.H.) and freshman George Thurston (Plymouth, Mass.).
- The overtime game-winner came at 3:21. John Pigott collected a rebound in front of the net and redirected a shot past senior Kurt Gutting (Weymouth, Mass.) to give Assumption the victory.
NOTES
- Assumption had 43 shots on goal, compared to 38 for Southern New Hampshire.
- SNHU went 1-for-6 on the power-play, Assumption was 0-for-5.
- The Greyhounds are unbeaten in their last 12 games (9-0-3), and have a one-point lead over Saint Michael's for first place in the NE10.
- The Penmen are 0-4 in the four home overtime games this season.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen will try to salvage the final meeting of the regular season with the Greyhounds on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be played the Buffone Arena in Worcester, Mass.
