Sophomore netminder JT Kossakowski (Elburn, Ill.) made 40 saves and freshman Ryan Coady (Braintree, Mass.) scored his first career goal as SNHU topped Saint Anselm 3-1 Friday night at Sullivan Arena.  

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Kossakowski earned his third win of the season, stopping 40 of 41 shots.
  • Freshman Matt Monreal (Wauwatosa, Wis.) opened the scoring at 1:43 of the first period.  
  • Grad student Brett Strawn (Wareham, Mass.) and sophomore Travis Quigley (North Babylon, N.Y.) assisted on the goal.
  • Coady took a pass from sophomore Kyle Conover (Cary, N.C.) and scored his first career goal at 17:27 of the first period.
  • SNHU junior Kyle Galloway (Sugar Hill, Ga.) scored his seventh of the season on a rebound at 17:22 of the second to make it 3-0.
  • The only goal for the Hawks came at the start of the third period, and was scored by Anthony Iacullo.
NOTES
  • SNHU's win, coupled with a Franklin Pierce loss at Assumption, means SNHU, Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce will head to the final day of the regular season with a chance to earn the final playoff spot in the NE10.   
  • Assumption, Saint Michael's and Stonehill have secured playoff spots.
  • With a win on Saturday, SNHU will sweep Saint Anselm in the season series, and will qualify for the playoffs if Franklin Pierce ties or loses its home game with Assumption (4 p.m. at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena).
  • Southern New Hampshire tallies two Queen City Cup points for winning the season series with Saint Anselm. Through the winter season, the Penmen have 14 points - the Hawks have 10.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • Saturday's contest with the Hawks takes place at The Ice Den at 7:20 p.m. where the Penmen will honor its seniors before the Queen City Cup contest.
