Graduate student Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) clinched the match with a win at No. 1 singles to lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team to a 7-0 shutout of Stonehill College on Saturday at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- van Biezen rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win against Christian Duffy at No. 1 singles. He also combined with his classmate and brother Willem van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) for a 6-0 blanking of Duffy and Aleksander Lazowski to clinch the doubles point at No. 1.
- Willem van Biezen took down Russell White, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
- Senior Guido Janssen (Zeewolde, Netherlands) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Trent Newman at No. 3 singles. He and junior Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) edged White and Luke Nickerson, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
- Freshman Sam Goddard (Amherst, N.H.) pulled out a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles against Nickerson. He teamed with sophomore Zachary Duboulay (St. Lucia) at No. 3 singles for a 6-0 victory against Newman and Joey Conrod.
- Torres made quick work of Ben Simmons at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
- Duboulay defeated Conrod, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has now won three straight.
- SNHU has now captured 50 of its last 51 matches against NE10 foes, including the postseason, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
- The Penmen are ranked second in the ITA East Region, while the Skyhawks are 10th.

- Southern New Hampshire's home match against Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, April 13 (3 p.m.) has been postponed. No make-up date has been determined.
