Graduate students Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) and Willem van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) each only dropped one game, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team blanked Stonehill College, 5-0, Thursday afternoon at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Bas van Biezen defeated Christian Duffy, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.
- Willem van Biezen was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles against Russell White.
- Senior Guido Janssen (Zeewolde, Netherlands) eased by Trent Newman, 6-1, 6-1.
- Freshman Sam Goddard (Amherst, N.H.) outlasted Vincent Huynh, 7-5, 5-7, 10-7, at No. 4 singles.
- Junior Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) pulled out a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 victory at No. 5 singes over Luke Nickerson.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has now won four straight.
- The Penmen defeated the Skyhawks, 7-0, last Saturday.
- SNHU has now captured 51 of its last 52 matches against NE10 foes, including the postseason, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
- The Penmen are ranked second in the ITA East Region, while the Skyhawks are 10th.
