Penmen Rally Falls Short In 2-1 Loss to Saint Anselm

Graduate student Anne Sikkema (Leeuwarden, Netherlands) scored in the 77th minute, but SNHU fell 2-1 to Saint Anselm College in an NE10 Women's Soccer contest on Wednesday at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Graduate student Hannah Rose (Waterloo, Ontario) – 6 saves
KEY MOMENTS 
  • The Hawks scored the only goal in a competitive first half.  Olivia Gotobed took a pass in the middle of the field, making a move to set-up a one-timer that found the top of the net at 15:23.
  • Kayli Porter was able to get a head on a free kick in front of the Penmen net at 47:23 to make it 2-0.
  • SNHU's lone goal came at 76:45 when Sikkema found an opportunity in front of the Saint Anselm net and buried the shot.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Rose made four saves in the first half and two in the second half.
  • Hawk goalie Kate Macaluso made four saves on five shots.
  • SNHU had a 12-9 advantage on shots in the game.
  • The Penmen owned a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
NOTES 
  • Southern New Hampshire is 0-3-5 in the last eight contests after starting the season 5-0.  The Penmen had tied five consecutive games before falling to the Hawks.
  • SNHU still leads the all-time series with Saint Anselm, 22-13-5.
  • Sikkema's goal is her third of the season – this is her first year with the program.
  • For the season, SNHU still owns a 21-11 scoring advantage and a 179-117 margin in shots.
