Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) won the deciding point at No. 3 singles to send the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory against Merrimack College on Saturday afternoon at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Nadeau scored a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 over Andre Singer to give the Penmen the win. He also combined with freshman Phillipp Roeder (Augsburg, Germany) to edge Pedro de Godoy Mancini and Charles Robertson, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
- Grad student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, Netherlands) posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Robertson at No. 4 singles to give SNHU a 2-0 lead.
- After Merrimack tied it with two straight wins, junior Sam Goddard (Amherst, N.H.) defeated de Godoy Mancini, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6 singles to hand the Penmen a 3-2 lead. The Warriors again tied it before Nadeau brought it home.
- Sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) and graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) started out doubles play with a 6-0 blanking of Aryaan Bhatia and Henrik Lindeman at No. 1.
- Ouwejan and Goddard clinched the doubles point at No. 3 by doubling up Singer and Valentin Riveros, 6-3.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is 3-0 for the second straight year.
- SNHU has now won 10 straight against Merrimack, which left the NE10 to go Division I after the 2018-19 season.
