Penmen Score Six Unanswered Goals to Rally Past Franklin Pierce 7-4 Friday

Lynch tallies four points with goal, three assists

Freshmen Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.) tallied a power-play goal and added three assists as SNHU rallied for a 7-4 win at Franklin Pierce University on Friday at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

KEY MOMENTS
 
  • After Franklin Pierce scored the game's first goal, SNHU was able to draw even on the first short-handed goal of the season.  Lynch won a faceoff and passed to Usalis at the red line on the boards. Flips it on goal, takes an awkward hop and goes in.
  • The Ravens scored the next three goals to open a 4-1 lead at 10:38 of the second period, but SNHU tied the game with three man advantage goals in the final 1:45.
  • First it was Lynch who scored in a 5x3 situation off a pass feed from senior Ryan Coady (Braintree, Mass.) and Flynn.
  • Amante made it 4-3 with a snap shot from the top left of the circle with assists to Lynch and Flynn.
  • The Penmen continued the man advantage (major penalty) with Thurston powering the puck into the top-right corner off a pass from Lynch to tie the game at 4-4 with five seconds left in the period.
  • SNHU scored three more goals in the third period, taking the lead for the first time at 5-4 on the first of two goals by Connor Ball.  Graduate student Dominic DiMambro (Troy, Mich.) passed to Ball to set-up the game-winner.
  • Empty net goals by Ray and Ball finished off the scoring for the Penmen.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Graduate student Adam Mercer (Belchertown, Mass.) and sophomore Cam Bernard (Bedford, N.H.) both played in goal for the Penmen.
  • The Penmen went 3-for-9 on the power play and the Ravens were 1-for-6.
 
NOTES
  • The was the first of four meetings between the NE10 rivals in 22-23.  The Penmen lead the all-time series 34-16-9.

  • SNHU and Franklin Pierce will meet again on Saturday (3:00 p.m.).
  • The Penmen return to The Ice Den on Saturday, November 26 (1:40 p.m.) for the Stovepipe Tournament and a contest with Tufts University.
