Ryan Coady (Braintree, Mass.) opened the third period with a goal, but SNHU could not complete the comeback, falling 4-2 to New England College in the Championship of the Stovepipe Tournament on Sunday at The Ice Den.

- The only goal of the first period was scored by Smith on the power-play. A shot by Usalis was sticked into the corner, where Gray collected the puck. He sent a perfect pass over to Smith for the one-timer and a 1-0 lead.
- The Pilgrims controlled play in the middle period, scoring a tying goal just 32 seconds in on a breakaway by Alex LaPlante.
- Two goals in two separate 5-on-3 advantages gave New England College a 3-1 lead after two periods.
- Coady brought the Penmen back to 3-2 just 44 seconds into the third period when he and Usalis worked to free the puck against the boards in the Penmen. Coady went the length of the ice, ripping a slap shot from the right dot for the goal.
- Tourney MVP Anthony Cinato scored for the Pilgrims at 8:29 of the third period to make it 4-2.

- The Penmen will head to Saint Anselm College next weekend for a pair of NE10 games. The teams will meet at Sullivan Arena on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
- After the holiday break, SNHU will next play at The Ice Den Arena on Friday, January 6 at 7:30 p.m. against Saint Anselm.
