Women's Cross Country Wins NE10 Championship for First Time

Corcoran Wins Race, Penmen Claim Title at Saint Michael's Sunday

Women's Cross Country won its first NE10 Cross Country Championship at Saint Michael's College Sunday.  Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the race, and four SNHU runners placed in the top ten.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Corcoran's time was 21:27.7, the third fastest 6k in program history, and six seconds off the meet record set last year.  She owns the top four marks at the distance in Penmen program history.
  • Joining Corcoran as first-team All-Conference by finishing in the top seven were junior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) and junior Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.)  Seamans ran fourth with a 22.45.3.    Bradbury's time of 23:11.2 was a personal best, and landed her seventh overall.
  • Junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) finished in ninth place with a new PR of 23:13.4, earning her second-team All-Conference.
  • A run of 23:52.5 by senior Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) was good for 18th place, earning her third-team All-Conference, along with graduate student Rose Pitman (Sherill, N.Y.).  Pitman ran her best 6k of the season at 23:55.3, finishing 20th.
  • Freshman Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) ran a new PR with a time of 24:16.0, finishing 28th of the 107 runners competing.
NOTES
  • The previous best finish at the NE10 Championships was in 2019, when the Penmen finished second.
  • Behind the Penmen were Adelphi (82) and Saint Anselm College (104).  SNHU earns two Queen City Cup points for finishing ahead of the Hawks.

  • The Penmen, ranked all season by the USTFCCCA as the top team in Division II's East Region, will race at the NCAA East Regional Championships on Saturday Nov. 19 at Bethpage, N.Y.
