Cole's Career Day Lifts Women's Lacrosse to 14-9 Win Over No. 21 New Haven

The Penmen have won four in a row and won eight games for the first time since 2016

West Haven, Conn. – Sophomore Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) scored a career-high six goals to lift the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to a 14-9 win over No. 21 New Haven on Saturday afternoon at Kathy Zolad Stadium. The Penmen beat the Chargers for the first time in 12 years snapping a 10-game skid.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS  KEY MOMENTS 
  • In an even played first quarter UNH scored the game's first goal, but back-to-back goals by Cole gave SNHU the lead. The Chargers scored three more times to take a 4-3 lead after one.
  • The second quarter saw each team scored three times, while UNH holding a 7-6 lead at the break.
  • The Penmen defense locked down and seized control outscoring the Chargers 5-1 in the third period. Graziano scored two goals in the frame.
  • SNHU's defense continued to shut down the Chargers allowing just one goal in the final quarter, while scoring three to secure the 14-9 win. Cole scored the final two goals of the game including a man-down goal with 15 seconds left.

  • UNH had a 40-28 shot advantage.

  • The Penmen were 21-22 in clear attempts

NOTES 
  • The Penmen won four-straight for the first time since the 2016 season.
  • SNHU won eight games in a season for the first time since 2016 season.
  • Renaud has scored in every game this season, including eight multi-goal games.
  • Cole who has a team-best 38 goals has also scored in all 11 games with nine multi-goal games. She has scored four goals or more in five games this season.
  • The Penmen were receiving votes in the most recent IWLCA Coaches' Poll.
  • SNHU is currently in third place in the NE10 standings after nine games play.
WHAT'S NEXT 
SNHU returns to action on Tuesday (April 19) at 4 p.m. to play host to NE10 foe St. Michael's College. The game will be senior night for the Penmen.
