(Syracuse, N.Y.) -- The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team, playing without a couple of key pieces of its lineup, had its nine-match winning streak halted Friday with a 6-1 loss against Le Moyne College in the regular-season finale. The Penmen, who dip to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in NE10 play, capture the No. 2 seed and an opening-round bye for the upcoming NE10 Championship.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- No. 1 Graduate student Thomas Guy (Fulda, Germany) was outlasted by Tom Jarry, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
- No. 2 Senior Emmanuel Vacalares (Cagayan de Oro, Philippines) was defeated by Manuel Righi, 6-1, 6-4.
- No. 3 Senior Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) was narrowly beaten by Jared Howard in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5.
- No. 4 Boris Stastny (Prague, Czech Republic) was toppled by Peter Hatton in matching sets, 6-3, 6-3.
- SNHU was forced to forfeit Nos. 5 and 6 singles, due to being shorthanded.
- The Penmen won at No. 1 doubles, with Guy and Torres edging Jarry and Miller, 6-4, but taking a forfeit at No. 3 doubles meant SNHU needed a win at No. 2 to take the point and did not get it. Righi and Hatton set down Vacalares and Statsny, 6-1.

- The loss snaps a five-match winning streak against Le Moyne for SNHU, which entered the day having won 10 of 11 in the series. The Penmen still lead the all-time series, 15-6.
- Le Moyne extends its winning streak to 19 and has not lost since a season-opening 4-3 defeat to Division I Niagara on Oct. 9.
- SNHU ranks second in the most recent NCAA East Regional rankings.
