Penmen Drop Opener to #10 Converse

Freshman Diaz De Vivar Tallies Goal in 5-1 Defeat

Freshman Bernardita Diaz de Vivar (Buenos Aires, Argentina) scored off a penalty corner, but Southern New Hampshire fell to #10 Converse University 5-1 in the season opener at Larkin Field.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Converse controlled the action during the first quarter, cashing in on a goal by Lotte Kanters for a 1-0 lead at 12:11.  
  • SNHU trailed 3-0 at halftime, with goalie Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) recording four saves.
  • After the Valkries extended the lead to 5-0, Diaz de Vivar cashed in on a penalty corner for the first Penmen goal of the season at 42:11.   Senior Audrey Canfield (North Hampton, N.H.) earned the assist on the play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Kanters scored twice for Converse, as did Kilee Bradeen.
  • Converse held a 14-3 advantage on penalty corners, and outshot the Penmen 22-1.  
NOTES
  • SNHU fell to 1-1 against Converse.  The Penmen opened the 2019 season in South Carolina, a trip which included an 8-0 win over the Valkries.
  • Converse had opened its season with a 7-0 win at Franklin Pierce on Friday.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen return to action Friday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Saint Michael's College for a non-conference game.  The next home game for the Penmen will be on Wednesday, September 14 against Assumption University.
