MANSFIELD, MASS. – Southern New Hampshire University is in fourth place in the Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup standings through the fall season, the league office announced Thursday when it unveiled the first rankings of the year.
SNHU, the two-time defending NE10 Presidents' Cup Champions, totaled 65.0 points to sit just 5.5 points out of second place. Adelphi University leads with 83.5 points. Southern New Hampshire, which fielded teams in eight of the 10 fall sports administered by the NE10, finished second in percentage of possible points, as it collected 71 percent of a possible 92 points. Adelphi, at 85 percent (83.5 of 98), is first. The Penmen had five of their eight programs finish fourth or higher in their respective league standings, while while all eight placed sixth or higher.
The Penmen collected the highest number of points in field hockey (10.5), while women's soccer contributing 10.0. Women's cross country (9.0), women's tennis (8.0; NE10 Regular-Season Championship) and women's volleyball (8.0) just missed out on double-digit point totals.
The NE10 Presidents' Cup is presented annually at the conclusion of the academic year, signifying overall athletic excellence in the league. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based on finishes in the regular-season standings from all of its programs competing in league championships.
For the first time in NE10 history, the 2023-24 academic year also recognized Men's and Women's Presidents' Cup champions, increasing the total number of honorees to three (overall, men and women). SNHU was second on the women's side in both points 45.5 and percentage of points (77%), while the Penmen tied for seventh in the Men's Cup with 19.5 and were sixth in percentage (59%).
