Women's Lacrosse Handles Post In Season-Opener

Renaud Tallies Five Times, Cole Has Four Goals, Four Assists

Junior Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) scored four goals and added four assists and senior Skylar Renaud (E. Waterboro, Me.) scored five goals as Southern New Hampshire opened the season with a 19-3 win over Post University Tuesday at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.


HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • SNHU opened the first quarter with a goal by Renaud at 1:08, and she added another goal later in the period as the Penmen built a 7-1 lead.
  • Junior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.) also scored a pair of goals in the first quarter.
  • The Penmen extended the lead to 10-2 by halftime, with Cole scoring a pair of goals and assisting on another in the second quarter.
  • SNHU led 15-3 after three quarters, with sophomore Madison Keating (Milford, N.H.) scoring twice and assisting on another in the third quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, Renaud scored her fifth goal of the game, and sophomore Katya Markovich (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up a pair of goals.
  • Senior Angelina Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) scored two goals and added three assists.
  • Also scoring goals for the Penmen were senior Courtney Cronin (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Skyler Pietz (Dudley, Mass.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 
  • SNHU had 34 shots to 15 for Post.
  • DeLucia had five draw controls, and Renaud had four – with the Penmen holding a 16-9 advantage.
  • The Penmen were 12-for-13 on clear attempts, and the Eagles were 8-for-16.
  • Post had a 17-10 advantage on ground balls.  
  • Southern New Hampshire converted both of their free position shots (Cole, Cronin).
  • Junior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) made seven saves to earn the win in her first career start in goal. 
NOTES
  • SNHU improves to 4-0 all-time against Post.
  • The Penmen win the season-opener for a second consecutive season.
  • The balanced offense saw eight different players score goals.
