KEY MOMENTS
- For the second consecutive game, Quigley opened the scoring with a first-period goal. He took a pass from freshman Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.) and finished with a blast from low on the right side. Junior Matt Amante (West Hempstead, N.Y.) also picked up an assist on the play.
- Usalis made it 2-0 at 18:22 of the first period when he potted a rebound of a shot by Quigley.
- Thurston made it 3-0 in the 5x4 situation at 16:28 of the third period.
- Monreal added an empty-netter to finish the scoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Penmen outshot the Ravens 54-36, with Franklin Pierce netminder Kyle Martin making 50 saves.
- SNHU went 1-for-5 on the power play and Franklin Pierce was 0-for-4.
- Thurston leads the NE10 with nine power-play goals this season.
- Loisel, who started and won both games over the weekend, recorded his first shutout, and the second by SNHU in 2022-23. Graduate student Adam Mercer (Belchertown, Mass.), who missed the weekend set with the Ravens, recorded the other SNHU shutout.
NOTES
- The Penmen win back-to-back games for the first time since November 5-11.
- SNHU wins the season series with Franklin Pierce for a fifth straight season.
- The Penmen lead the all-time series 36-17-9.
- SNHU is in fourth place in the NE10 standings ahead of the Ravens, 23 points to 18, but Franklin Pierce has two games in hand. If the Penmen can hold fourth place (or improve on it), they will host an NE10 playoff game.
