Men's Tennis Halts Skid with 5-2 Win Versus Saint Michael's

Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) clinched the match at No. 4 singles and also earned another point by helping to clinch the doubles point, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing skid with a 5-2 victory against Saint Michael's College in its spring outdoor home opener Tuesday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Nadeau captured a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 victory at No. 4 over Tristian Du Plessis to cement the win for the Penmen. He also teamed with junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) at No. 1 doubles for a 7-6 (7-4) triumph against Du Plessis and Mathis Billman to earn the doubles point.
  • Den Hartog was a 6-4, 6-3 winner against Josh Weiss at No. 1 singles.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) breezed past Jackson Moser, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. He and freshman Phillipp Roeder (Ausburg, Germany) doubled up Julius van den Broek and Simon Lundholm, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.
  • Graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Jason Boucher at No. 3 singles.
NOTES
  • Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) was edged by Sergio Barroso, 6-3, 3-6, 8-10, at No. 5 singles.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Saint Michael's, 19-5, and extends its winning streak against the Purple Knights to 16. The Penmen have also won 10-in-a-row at home. The last time SMC defeated SNHU was April 8, 2009 (5-4) in Manchester.
