Graduate student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) won at No. 3 singles to give the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team a 3-2 lead, but Post University rallied to steal a 4-3 victory Saturday at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Etienne battled past Nina Langenfeld, 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 singles.
- Grad student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) took care of Oceane Mallevre, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. She also combined with freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) for a 6-1 win over Mellevre and Langenfeld at No. 2 doubles.
- Senior Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) was a 6-2, 6-3 victor against Natalia Gonzalez Ramos at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) suffered a 2-6, 6-4, 4-6 loss at No. 1 singles against Micaela Rosignuolo. She and Etienne also dropped a 7-5 heartbreaker at No. 1 doubles versus Rosignuolo and Megan Lambardt.
- Kupfer was also handed a three-set defeat at No. 2 singles by Annunciata De-Souza, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6.,
- Southern New Hampshire drops three consecutive matches for the first time since March 7-10, 2020.
- SNHU loses to Post for just the second time in six all-time meetings.
