Eliza Bates (Newport, N.H.) tied the game in the third quarter, but SNHU field hockey saw it's upset bid fall short in a 3-2 loss in overtime at Pace University in the Northeast-10 Conference opener Saturday in Pleasantville, N.Y.

KEY MOMENTS
- Wiersma put the Penmen up 1-0 with her first goal of the season in the closing minutes of the first quarter. She was able to score on a rebound in front of the Setter cage.
- Krista Dietz tied the game at 18:30 and the Setters went ahead when Eveline Bussemaker scored from a low angle with 41 seconds left in the first half.
- Bates tied the game at 2-2 off a pass from Hendriks with 5:18 to go in the third quarter.
- Dietz scored the game-winning goal about five minutes into overtime.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Penmen were outshot 24-12 for the contest including 16-7 on goal.
- Pace had a 10-9 advantage on penalty corners.
- Setter goalie Celeste Pagliaroli made five saves.
NOTES
- The game served as the NE10 opener for both teams. Pace went 13-8 a year ago, advancing to the NE10 Championship.
- Eveline Bussemaker, a Pace graduate student, is the sister of SNHU sophomore Suzanne Bussemaker (Bussum, Netherlands).
- Pace wins against Southern New Hampshire for the seventh time in eight meetings.
