MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University athletic department had 258 of its student-athletes, representing all 18 programs, earn NE10 Fall 2023 Academic Honor Roll status, the league office announced Thursday.
In total, 3,897 NE10 student-athletes earned a grade-point average of 3.0 or better, as the Academic Honor Roll members made up 68 percent of the total number of student-athletes from the 12 NE10 institutions and five associate members. In addition, 11 of 12 NE10 full member institutions had at least 50-percent of their student-athletes on the list. Nine institutions had at least 65 percent of their student-athletes included, with five reaching 70 percent. SNHU slotted in fifth, percentage-wise, at 77 percent (258 of 336). The Penmen also ranked second with 68 perfect 4.0 GPAs.
The Academic Honor Roll – formerly the Commissioner's Honor Roll – acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes to excel in the classroom with three designations – Academic Excellence (4.0 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA) and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA).
In a sport-by-sport breakdown, the Penmen women's cross country and women's volleyball teams placed first in the league in their sport with 21 and 17 selections, respectively, while men's ice hockey (23) and men's tennis (8) were second. Looking just at the institution, men's lacrosse led the way for SNHU with 30 honorees, with women's lacrosse (25), men's soccer (24), men's ice hockey, women's cross country and women's track & field (21) rounding out the top.
