Men's Tennis Gathers First Win of 2024, 6-1, Versus Bentley

Sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) was victorious at No. 3 singles to clinch the match, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season, 6-1, against Bentley University on Wednesday night at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Williams toppled Albert Soukup at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1. He and senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) also doubled up Soukup and Liam Marr, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
  • Nadeau defeated Ansh Chadha, 6-1, 6-2, at the top singles flight.
  • Junior Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) took down Sandro Bertolina, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles. He also teamed with sophomore Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Rafael Cueto and Bertolina at No. 2.
  • Freshman Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) made quick work of Marr, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. He combined with freshman Noah Cadilhac (Montpellier, France) to edge Chadha and Jairaj Sehwani, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles.
  • Freshman Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) recorded a 6-4, 6-0 triumph against Sehwani at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
  • SNHU leads all-time series, 18-9, and has won 14 straight. Bentley's last win in the series came at SNHU on April 15, 2015 (6-3). SNHU has also won nine-in-a-row at home versus the Falcons.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen return to action Saturday, Oct. 5 (1 p.m.) when they take on Assumption University.
  • SNHU is not scheduled to be back home until the spring.
