Penmen Complete Sweep of Franklin Pierce With 2-1 Win

Men's ice hockey completed a weekend sweep of Franklin Pierce University with a 2-1 win on Saturday.  Sophomore Anthony Marchant (Norwood, Mass.) tied the game, and junior Tyler Murray (Barre, Vt.) scored the game-winner in the closing minutes.

  • Sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) – 27 saves
 KEY MOMENTS
  • The teams completed the first 20 minutes scoreless.
  • Franklin Pierce took a 1-0 lead at 3:02 of the second period after a turnover in the Penmen zone.  Nicholas Tessier scored for the Ravens.
  • SNHU tallied the tying goal at 12:45 of the second period on Marchant's goal off a pass from Lynch.  Junior Ryan Pomposelli (Needham, Mass.) also had an assist.
  • The game-winner came at 14:56 of the final period.  Hard work on the boards by junior Kurt Watson (London, Ont.) and Lynch led to a slap shot by sophomore Bryan McLachlan (San Pedro, Calif.).  Murray redirected the puck in for his second game-winning goal of the series.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU had 37 shots on goal to 28 for Frankin Pierce.
  • The Penmen went 0-for-3 on the power-play and the Ravens were 0-for-2.
  • The Ravens had a 36-35 edge on face-offs and each team had 11 block shots.
NOTES
  • Murray has now scored four goals while Marchant had three.
  • Lynch has a team-leading ten assists and 13 points.
  • Berke has been in goal for all six wins for the Penmen, improving his career mark to 15-7 with a 2.20 goals-against average.
  • SNHU has a 40-18-7 advantage in the all-time series with Franklin Pierce with wins in four straight and five of the last six games.
  • The Penmen improved to 4-1 at home this season, including 4-0 in NE10 play
