Harry Vargas Segura (Bronx, N.Y.) each drove in three runs, as the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team split a Saturday doubleheader with Post University at Municipal Stadium. SNHU scored an 8-3 victory in game one, but Post walked off with a 6-5 victory in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Southern New Hampshire went in front, 1-0, in the top of the first inning when freshman Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) drew a bases-loaded walk – the third free pass of the frame.
- After Post tied it on a sacrifice fly in the second, an RBI single to left from DeMaro and a Vargas Segura sac fly brought in two during the fourth inning to put SNHU back on top, 3-1.
- The Penmen nudged the lead to 4-1 when Burgos led off the fifth with a solo bomb to center.
- The teams swapped runs in the sixth, before a three-run seventh – highlighted by RBI singles from Wouters and Vargas Segura – stretched the SNHU advantage to 8-2.
- The Eagles tacked on one in the ninth with a solo home run that knocked Lendrum (2-1) from the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME 1
- Risedorf (two runs, walk, two doubles) and Vargas Segura (two RBI, double) both were 3-for-5.
- Wouters went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks and an RBI.
- DeMaro (two RBI, run), Wachter (RBI, run, double, walk), Burgos (RBI, run, home run, walk), Lavigne (run, walk) and sophomore Steven Kienzle (Holbrook, N.Y.; two runs, double, walk) were all 1-for-4.
- Sophomore Ben Hladun (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) secured the final out against the only batter he faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- It was Post that moved out to the early lead in the bottom of the first, using a two-out single against redshirt-sophomore Zach Brassill (No. Hampton, N.H.) to go up, 1-0. The Eagles scored two more, including one on a two-out error, to expand their lead to 3-0 in the fourth.
- Southern New Hampshire responded with a four-run fifth, using a bases-loaded walk to Vargas Segura and a wild pitch to push push across two, before a two-run single from sophomore Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) flipped the Penmen into the lead at 4-3.
- A DeMaro double in the sixth brought home another run that gave SNHU insurance at 5-3.
- Post would score a pair in the sixth to tie the game, however.
- After the Penmen went 1-2-3 in the seventh, Post won it in the home half with an RBI single down the left field line.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME 2
- DeMaro was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a double.
- Senior Dylan O'Sullivan (Manchester, N.H.) finished 1-for-2.
- Lavigne (run) and Burgos (walk) both went 1-for-3.
- Pisano was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
- Vargas Segura went 0-for-3, but scored a run, collected an RBI and drew a walk.
- Brassill allowed three runs – two earned – on four hits, while punching out seven and walking three, over four innings.
- Graduate student Zachary Gitschier (Lowell, Mass.) fell to 1-3, as he was charged with three runs on six hits over two-and-two-thirds innings, while fanning three and walking a batter.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won eight of its last 11 games.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Post, 12-2, including 3-1 on the road. The Penmen won 11-in-a-row, including four straight at Post, prior the game-two loss.
- Burgos, who has gone deep in five of the last nine games, leads the Northeast-10 conference with eight homers and 23 RBI.
- Vargas Segura, who has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games, leads the league in stolen bases (14), while ranking second in RBI (21), third in home runs (4) and fourth in batting (.417).
