Penmen See 15 Collect NE10 Spring Academic All-Conference Accolades

The 15 are the third most in the league

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University placed 15 of its 2024 spring student-athletes on NE10 Academic All-Conference teams Thursday.

The 15 Penmen honorees were the third most in the league. Adelphi University and Franklin Pierce University, which both compete in all 10 NE10-sponsored springs sports, led the way with 19 and 18 selections, respectively. SNHU only competes in eight of the NE10-sponsored spring sports. In total, 135 student-athletes were recognized.

Sophomore Alina Kupfer (Baldham, Germany) was recognized as one of seven members of the women's tennis team and was also one of 15 NE10 Players of the Year to receive the honor. Kupfer, who was named the Vern Cox NE10 Player of the Year, received NE10 All-Conference First Team honors at No. 1 singles, as well as Second Team accolades at No. 1 doubles and was a three-time NE10 Player of the Week (Sept. 19, Oct. 3, Oct. 17), was also voted to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team, after landing a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team. Kupfer finished the regular season 19-5 in singles, including 7-1 in conference play and 12-3 at the top flight. She was also 14-5 in doubles, as well as 11-4 at the top flight and 7-1 in NE10 action. Kupfer is a marketing major with a 3.97 grade-point average.

Senior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and junior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) took up two of the six men's tennis spots. Den Hartog, an NE10 Second Teamer at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles, as well as both a CSC Academic All-America First Team and a CSC Academic All-District choice, is a business administration major with a 3.93 GPA. Den Hartog was 17-7 in singles play, including 8-2 in the conference. He was also 16-6 in doubles and 8-2 in the NE10.

Nadeau, an NE10 Second Team choice at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles, was 14-6 in singles this year, including 7-3 in the NE10, as well as 16-6 in doubles and 8-2 within the league. The CSC Academic All-District selection was a business administration major with a concentration in Sport Management and recorded a 3.84 GPA.

Sophomore Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) and junior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) earned a league-best two of the five spots on the men's golf team. Rollins, an NE10 All-Conference First Team and CSC Academic All-District selection, played in 22 rounds over nine tournaments, averaging a team-best 74.3 strokes per round. Rollins turned in three top-five finishes, including a win at the Granite State Opener on Sept. 18-19 when he tied the two-round school record with a 135. Rollins was fifth at the NE10 Championship with a 214 on the strength of a championship single-round record 66 in the final round. It was the fourth sub-70 round of the season for Rollins. He is an accounting and finance major with a 3.99 GPA.

Pepin, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.66 GPA, collects the honor for the second straight season. He was an NE10 All-Conference Third Teamer after averaging a 76.5 over 22 rounds this season. Pepin, who was also a CSC Academic All-District honoree, won the Hawk Invitational on April 18 with a 141 that included a season-best 70 in the opening round.

Sophomores Frankie DeMaro (Newburgh, N.Y.), Dyrenson Wouters (Oranjestad, Aruba) and Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) were three of the 18 baseball student-athletes recognized. DeMaro, a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East All-Region First Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team honoree in the utility spot, as well as a CSC Academic All-District selection, made 15 appearances on the mound, including 11 starts, and also played third base. The April 15 NE10 Pitcher of the Week is 2-4 with a pair of saves and a 3.05 ERA over 59 innings, striking out 49 and walking 19, while allowing 56 hits. DeMaro went 25-for-90 (.278) with the bat, hitting a home run, collecting 13 RBI and scoring 17 runs. He ranked seventh in the conference in ERA, 10th in WHIP (1.27), 13th in innings pitched, and 19th in strikeouts. He is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.71 grade-point average.

Wouters, a sport management major with a minor in accounting, has posted a 3.60 GPA. An NE10 All-Conference Second Team shortstop, he hit .344 (73-212) with three home runs, 40 RBI and 51 runs scored, stealing 19 of 22 bases and slashing .453/.462/.915. Wouters, a CSC Academic All-District pick, led the league in hits, while ranking fourth in runs, eighth in steals, ninth in OBP, 10th in batting and doubles (14), 11th in total bases (98) and 12th in RBI.

Lendrum, an NE10 Third Team starting pitcher, NE10 All-Defensive Team selection and CSC Academic All-District choice, is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.94 GPA. Over 15 appearances, including 13 starts, Lendrum went 8-3 with a save and 4.19 ERA, striking out 49 and walking 18, while giving up 86 hits, in 81-and-two-thirds innings. Lendrum was third in the NE10 in wins and innings pitched, 12th in WHIP (1.27), 17th in ERA and 19th in strikeouts.

Sophomore Peyton Feldman (Foxboro, Mass.) and senior Bella Dickinson (Scarborough, Maine) collected two of the 18 softball honors. Feldman, a biology major and nutrition minor with a 3.77 grade-point average, adds to her list of accolades from the 2024 season that includes National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) East All-Region First Team, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region Second Team, NE10 All-Conference First Team and CSC Academic All-District. Feldman, who started all 43 games, hit .381 (59-155) with 12 extra-base hits, including a home run, 22 RBI and 25 runs scored. She was on base at a .422 clip and slugged .471 for an .893 OPS. Feldman also flashed a .987 fielding percentage, making just one error in 75 total chances in the outfield. Feldman led the NE10 in hits, while ranking second in batting, sixth in OBP and total bases (73), seventh in doubles (11), 11th in runs, 15th in RBI, 19th in slugging and 25th in fielding. 

Dickinson earns the award for the second straight season after starting all 42 contests she played in, going 38-for-145 (.262) at the plate with a pair of home runs, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored. The shortstop was named to the NE10 All-Defensive Team, as she made 148 of 156 plays in the field and ranked fourth in the league in assists. Dickinson, a CSC Academic All-District choice, is a business administration major with a concentration in global business and owns a 3.97 GPA.

Seniors Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.), Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.), Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) and Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) received a league-best four of the 21 women's outdoor track & field spots. Seamans, who was pursuing her graduate degree in professional accountancy and posted a 4.0 grade-point average, earns the honor for the third straight season. The NE10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and CSC Academic All-District choice adds to her list of 2024 outdoor track & field accolades that includes United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East All-Region (5000m, 10000m), as she ranked third in the region in the 10000 (38:26.24) and fourth in the 5000 (18:19.53). Seamans has now collected the NE10 Academic All-Conference honor in cross country, and indoor and outdoor track & field in the same academic year in back-to-back seasons, as she takes home the award for the seventh total time.

O'Rourke, a USTFCCCA East All-Region (3000m steeplechase) and CSC Academic All-District selection, was an education for licensure major with a 3.93 GPA. She ranked fourth in the region in the 3000m steeplechase (11:52.73).

Hallet wins the award for the second straight season and tacks on to her list of accolades from the season that includes USTFCCCA East All-Region (high jump, heptathlon) and CSC Academic All-District. She ranked fourth in the region in the heptathlon (4,028). Hallet was a psychology major with a 3.92 GPA.

Gravell, who also collects the honor for a second consecutive year, was a biology major with a 3.96 GPA. A USTFCCCA East All-Region (400m) CSC Academic All-District honoree, she placed second in the region in the 400m (56.83) and ninth in the  long jump (5.52m).  

Senior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.) made the 24-member women's lacrosse team to receive the honor for a third straight year. DeLucia, who was an IWLCA East All-Region Second Team honoree, NE10 First Team pick, IWLCA Senior All-Star Game selection and CSC Academic All-District choice, started all 17 games this season. She registered 139 draw controls, 36 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers, while contributing eight goals and 10 assists on offense. DeLucia led the NE10 in draw controls, while placing eighth in ground balls and 13th in caused turnovers. The 139 draw controls are the most in a single season in program history and are the eighth most in the history of the NE10. She is a justice studies major with a concentration in crime and criminology, and owns a 3.68 GPA.

To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:

  • Started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor.
  • Achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.
