Senior Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) clinched the match with her No. 6 singles victory, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team rallied for a 5-2 victory against Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday at the FPU Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- With SNHU holding a 3-2 edge in the match, Nichols gave the Penmen the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles over Ana Munoz. Nichols also clinched the doubles point with sophomore Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine), as they doubled up Maria Paz Diaz and Munoz, 6-3, at No. 3.
- Lyekontseva defeated Paz Diaz, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.
- Freshman Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands) pulled out a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win against Zoe Asterio-Correa at No. 3 singles. Tsui also combined with sophomore Justina Haver (Taipei, Taiwan) for a 6-3 triumph over Gabriela Yamate and Asterio-Correa at No. 2 doubles.
- Graduate student Zuzanna Krygier (Poznan, Poland) outlasted Yamate at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. She also teamed with sophomore Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) for a 6-1 victory over Polina Giorgieva and Victoria Azcona.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is 3-0 for the first time since 2023-24, but the fourth time in the last five years.
- The Penmen are now 24-8 all-time against Franklin Pierce and have won four straight. The last Ravens win came in the NE10 Championship semifinals on Oct. 22, 2021 at SNHU (4-0).

- The Penmen return to action Sept. 13-16 at the ITA East Regional Championships in Flushing, N.Y., at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
