Graduate student Zuzanna Krygier (Poznan, Poland) was one of four Penmen to win a pair of matches, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team scored a 5-2 win against cross-town rival Saint Anselm College on Wednesday at the South Athletic Field Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Krygier defeated Camila Heredia-Osant at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2. She also teamed with sophomore Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) for a 6-1 triumph over Heredia-Osant and Irene Garbo at No. 1 doubles.
- Abadzic was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles against Julie Borschig.
- Freshman Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands), fresh off her run at the ITA East Regional Championships, pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) win at No. 3 singles versus Natalia Gonzalez Ramos. She and sophomore Justina Haver (Taipei, Taiwan) downed Borschig and Gonzalez Ramos, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Abigail Svor at No. 5 singles. She combined with senior Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) to double up Abigail and Julia Svor, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is 4-0 for the first time since 2022-23, but the third time in the last four years.
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with Saint Anselm, 23-5, and have now won 23-in-a-row versus the Hawks, including 13 straight at Saint Anselm. The last time SNHU lost to the Hawks was at home April 14, 2005 (6-3). Saint Anselm has not defeated the Penmen on its own home courts since March 13, 2004 (9-0).
- SNHU earns two points in the Queen City Cup standings and leads the battle for Manchester supremacy, 2-0.
