The Southern New Hampshire University Penmen's season comes to a close with a NE10 Semifinal loss to the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights by a score of 3-1. 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Junior Ryan Pomposelli (Needham, Mass.) – goal
  • Sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) – 20 saves
 KEY MOMENTS
  • The Purple Knights kicked off the scoring with 8:26 remaining in the first period, with Patrick Last burying a one-time shot in front of the net. 
  • Southern New Hampshire responded late in the second period, with just nine seconds remaining. The goal was scored by  Pomposelli, assisted by junior Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.) and sophomore Anthony Marchant (Norwood, Mass.).
  • Patrick Last would get his second goal of the game for SMC, capitalizing on another one-timer in the slot. This put the Purple Knights up by one with 13:56 remaining in the third period.
  • Saint Michael's iced the game with a long empty-net goal with 14.7 seconds remaining in the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU outshot SMC 36-22. Purple Knights freshman goaltender Evan Plunkett made 35 stops, while Collin Berke made 20 saves for the Penmen.
  • The Penmen went 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Purple Knights went 0-for-2.
  • Southern New Hampshire blocked 11 shots, while Saint Michael's got in front of 13 shots as a team. 
  • SNHU won the battle in the dot against SMC with 37 faceoff wins and 35 faceoff losses.
NOTES
  • The goal from Pomposelli was his ninth on the season, tying him with junior Kurt Watson (London, Ont.) for most goals for the Penmen.
  • Lynch collected his 20th assist on the season, leading the Penmen and becoming one of the three players in the NE10 to reach 20 assists so far. Lynch also finished as the top face-off taker in the NE10, winning 59.3% of his face-offs. 
  • Marchant's assist was his 6th of the season, putting him at 10 points for the year. 
  • Berke finished the season with a .932 save percentage, good for third in the conference, and a 2.23 goals against average, currently first in the NE10. Berke also had four shutouts on the season, tying him with Evan Plunkett for most shutouts. 
  • SNHU defeated Saint Michael's in the semifinals last season by a score of 5-1. 
  • Southern New Hampshire has a losing record to Saint Michael's, with the all-time record being 31-56-7 to the Purple Knights. The two teams split the regular season series 2-2. 
  • The Penmen have been eliminated from the NE10 Championship and finish the 2024-25 season with a 12-15-2 record. 
  • The Purple Knights will play in their 12th total NE10 Final. They last played in the Final in 2022-23, and last won the Championship in the 2008-09 season. Saint Michael's has an all-time NE10 Finals record of 5-6. They will travel to Saint Anselm next Saturday after the Hawks turned back defending champ Assumption 3-2 in overtime.
