Freshman Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) won their singles matches, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team fell to Stonehill College, 5-2, Saturday evening at the Lakeville Athletic Club.

  • No. 5 singles: Castaneda def. Alexis Chastang, 6-1, 7-6
  • No. 6 singles: Molero def. Mateo Mallen, 6-0, 2-6, 10-8
  • No. 1 doubles: Senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick)/sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) def. Mark Kroll/Jacob Krefting, 6-3
NOTES
  • Nadeau was edged at No. 1 singles by Guillermo Bennaton, 0-6, 6-2, 10-8.
  • Junior Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) dropped a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 decision to Kroll at No. 4 singles.
  • Southern New Hampshire has dropped two straight.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Stonehill, 14-8. The Penmen had won 12 of the last 13 meetings, including seven straight. This is the Skyhawks' first victory over Southern New Hampshire since March 28, 2015 (5-4).

  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday, March 1 when they take on the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
