Jackson Marshall (Hooksett, N.H.) also added a pair of hits, but the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was toppled by cross-town rival Saint Anselm College on Wednesday afternoon at Penmen Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- An RBI single in the second gave Saint Anselm a 1-0 lead, before it doubled its advantage with a home run to right-center off the bat of George Slauson in the third.
- A three-run eighth against the Penmen bullpen – highlighted by a two-run single from Shea Howrigan – stretched the Hawks' lead to 5-0.
- Slauson added a second, opposite-field homer in the ninth to nudge the margin to six.
- Southern New Hampshire avoided the shutout in the bottom of the frame when Kaplo led off with a single up the middle and eventually scored on an RBI groundout from senior Jancarlos Colon (Santa Isabel, P.R.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Graduate student Jorge Burgos (Santo Domingo, D.R.) was 1-for-4 with a walk.
- Colon finished 0-for-5 with an RBI.
- Grad student Cam Varney (Manchester, N.H.) relinquished three runs on five hits, while striking out two, over an inning-and-two-thirds.
- Junior Jake Lapham (Lansingburgh, N.Y.) allowed one run on one hit over an inning-and-a-third, striking out one.
- The Penmen left 10 runners on base.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, receiving votes in both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II Coaches Poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25, sees its six-game winning streak come to an end.
- SNHU dips to 71-35 all-time against Saint Anselm and has a nine-game winning streak halted, as the Hawks defeat their cross-town rival for the first time since March 23, 2023 (12-7). The Penmen had also captured 21-in-a-row at home against Saint Anselm, with the last previous loss coming April 4, 2013 (6-3). The one run is also the lowest offensive output against the Hawks since a 1-0 home win March 22, 2012.
- Pisano had missed the first 23 games of the season due to injury.
- Marshall's team-best batting average climbs to .368, which is tied for fifth in the NE10.
- Colon saw his 17-game hitting streak draw to a close.
