Katelyn Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) registered a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team came up short against Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern Connecticut led, 4-1, at the end of the first quarter.
- The teams alternated goals in the second stanza until the Owls capped the scoring with two straight to bring an 8-4 advantage into the halftime break.
- Southern New Hampshire inched closer in the third quarter, pulling within 10-7 heading to the final frame.
- SCSU scored the first five goals of the fourth to break open a 15-7 advantage with 7:09 remaining. The Penmen rallied, with a goal and two assists from Hadden, and a goal and assist from Pietz, slashing the deficit to four with 2:35 left, but would run out of time.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman goalkeeper Corrina Moulton (Barre, Vt.) made seven saves on 22 shots over the opening 53:22 of action. Sophomore Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) did not face a shot over the final 6:38.
- Southern Connecticut goalkeeper Caelan Connors racked up 15 saves.
- Freshman Sabrina Redding (Forked River, N.J.) scored a pair of goals.
- Senior Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist, and caused a turnover.
- Senior Teagan McInnis (Bedford, N.H.) recorded a goal, two caused turnovers and three draw controls.
- Sophomore Natalie Bosselman (E. Falmouth, Mass.) also scored a goal.
- SNHU edged SCSU in shots, 28-27.
- The Penmen held a narrow lead in draw controls (14-13), while ground balls were even (10-10).
- SNHU went a perfect 7-for-7 on clear attempts, while SCSU was 14-for-16.
- The Penmen also connected on both of their free-position attempts, with the Owls going 6-for-7.
- SCSU had 13 of the game's 25 turnovers.
NOTES
- SNHU dips to 16-4 all-time against SCSU and has its four-game winning streak halted, as the Owls defeat the Penmen for the first time since April 13, 2018 (21-19). SNHU had also captured two straight at Southern Connecticut, with the Owls last defending their home turf April 29, 2017 (17-16).
- Hadden now has 225 points (140g, 85a) for her career.
- Hadden leads the NE10 in assists (27), while ranking second in points (54) and seventh in goals (27).
