Thirteen Penmen Claim NE10 Fall Academic All-Conference Honors

NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University had 13 of its student-athletes recognized with NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the 2025 fall season Tuesday.

The 13 Penmen honorees were the fourth most in the league. Bentley University placed 20 on Academic All-Conference squads, while Franklin Pierce University and Adelphi University were second and third with 16 and 15, respectively. Bentley and Franklin Pierce sponsor all seven of the countable fall sports, as opposed to six for SNHU and Adelphi.

Men's soccer filled out the 18-member list of Academic All-Conference honorees with a league-best seven of its student-athletes.

Graduate student Martin Fuentes (Pamplona, Spain), who received United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team, United Soccer Coaches East All-Region First Team, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region Second Team and NE10 First Team nods this season, started 21 of the 22 matches he played in, amassing 30 points on 11 goals and eight assists. Fuentes, who led the league in game-winning goals (6), points and assists, while ranking second in goals, is pursuing his MBA and has a 3.89 grade-point average (GPA).

Sophomore Gabriel Castro (León, Spain), an aeronautical engineering major with a 3.87 GPA, was a United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team, United Soccer Coaches East All-Region First Team, D2CCA East All-Region First Team, NE10 All-Conference First Team and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District choice this season. He scored six goals and dished an assist for 13 points, while starting all 21 matches he played in. Castro tied for seventh in the NE10 in goals and 10th in points.

Senior Philipp Herrmann (Bruckmuehl, Germany), a United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team, United Soccer Coaches East All-Region First Team, D2CCA East All-Region Second Team and NE10 First Team honoree this season, found the back of the net 10 times for 20 points, tying for third in the conference in goals, while placing fourth in points and game-winning goals (3). Herrmann, who suited up in all 22 matches, including 21 starts, began the season on fire, scoring a goal in seven of the first eight matches, including five straight to begin the year. He is a sport management major with a 3.43 GPA.

Junior Alex Pons (Castellón, Spain), the only Penmen to start all 22 matches, was a D2CCA East All-Region, NE10 First Teamer and CSC Academic All-District pick this year. Pons was a key member of a defensive unit that led the league in goals-against average (0.86) and ranked second in goals allowed (18) at the end of the regular season. Pons, a business administration major with a 3.90 GPA, also contributed offensively with six points on a goal and four assists.

Graduate student Dani Gonzalez (Llanera, Spain) claimed a spot on the Second Team, as he started 19 of the 20 matches he played in and tallied up seven goals and eight assists for 22 points. He tied for the league lead in assists, while ranking third in points, fourth in game-winning goals (3) and fifth in goals. Gonzalez is a sport management major with a 3.86 GPA.

Senior Alejo Caceres (Córdoba, Argentina), a business administration major with a 3.69 GPA, earned NE10 Third Team honors after starting all 20 matches he  suited up for, tallying eight points on a goal and six assists. 

Junior Eduardo Maia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was another critical piece on the Penmen back line, starting 18 of the 19 matches he played in. The sport management major with a 3.50 GPA also added a goal and an assist for three points, as he landed a place on the NE10 Third Team.

Senior Georgia Greene (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was the lone Penmen on the 25-member women's soccer squad. Greene, who was both an NE10 All-Conference Third Team and a CSC Academic All-District selection this season, tied for second on the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. She was one of four Penmen to start all 16 matches. Greene is a biology major with a 3.74 GPA.

Field hockey took up two of the 20 spots with juniors Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) and  Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) making the team. van de Poll, a marketing major with a 3.60 GPA, was a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) East All-Region First Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team pick. She started all 17 games she played in, scoring eight goals and dishing an assist for 17 points.

Demers was an NFHCA East All-Region Second Team and NE10 First Team choice after starting all 19 contests for the Penmen and leading the team with 24 points on 11 goals and two helpers. She is a marketing major with a 3.90 GPA.

Senior Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) was one of 10 men's cross country honorees. The electrical engineering and math major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, is an Academic All-Conference selection for the second straight season. Labonte adds to his accolades from this season that include the NCAA Scholar-Athlete Award and NE10 Elite 24 Award, as well as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East All-Region and NE10 All-Conference First Team selections. Labonte was third at the NE10 Championship (26:20.6) and then fourth at the NCAA East Regional Championship (32:09.58) to qualify for the NCAA National Championships for the second straight year. Labonte finished 180th at nationals in a time of 32:29.7, improving his position 47 spots from last year's run.   

Women's cross country saw two of its runners make the 15-member team. Graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.), who is pursuing her Master's degree in criminal justice and owns a 3.58 GPA, was both a USTFCCCA East All-Region and NE10 All-Conference First Team honoree this season. She was sixth at the NE10 Championships in a time of 23:50.8 and 10th at the CAA East Regional Championship (22:41.46).

Sophomore Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.) joined Obernesser as a business and marketing major with a 3.96 GPA. She earned NE10 All-Conference Second Team honors after placing 12th at NE10s in 24:58.8.

To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:

  • Named to sport All-Conference team (First, Second, Third or Defensive). 
  • Must have spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at the institution (not including the last semester completed)
  • Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 (for both undergrad and grad)
