Crocombe scores fourth goal of season for Penmen

Senior Amelia Crocombe (Taunton, England) scored her fourth goal of the season, but the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team fell to ninth-ranked Saint Anselm College, 5-1, in Northeast 10 action Tuesday evening at Grappone Stadium.

KEY MOMENT

Saint Anselm struck three times in the opening quarter, with Kelly Holmes opening the scoring at 1:47 before Ruby Reid added goals at 10:01 and 11:00.

The Penmen answered at 19:12 when junior Natalie Paradzick (Hooksett, N.H.) connected with Crocombe, who scored to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Hawks responded with a pair of Sophie Smith goals at 24:13 and 26:55 to take a 5-1 advantage into halftime. Neither team scored over the final 30 minutes.

NOTES

  • Crocombe's fourth goal of the season gives her a team-leading 11 points on four goals and three assists.
  • Paradzick recorded her second assist of the season.
  • Sophomore Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) made 11 saves, matching her season high.
  • Crocombe put all four of her shots on goal, while junior Julia Giampietro (Sandwich, Mass.) had three shots on goal.
  • SNHU finished with 13 shots, including nine on goal, and eight penalty corners.
  • The Penmen held Saint Anselm scoreless in the second half.
  • Saint Anselm has won the last five meetings and leads the all-time series, 21-2.
