Knowlton Leads Late Push by Women's Lacrosse, Penmen Fall Just Short

SNHU rallies but drops 14-13 decision to Southern Connecticut State

Redshirt-freshman Piper Knowlton (Chester, N.H.) totaled eight points on five goals and three assists, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team rallied late before falling just short in a 14-13 setback to Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at Ouellette Stadium.

KEY MOMENT
  • Southern New Hampshire trailed 14-9 early in the fourth before scoring four straight goals. Piper Knowlton and sophomore Sabrina Redding (Forked River, N.J.) each scored during the surge, and freshman Kailyn Cuddahy (Leominster, Mass.) capped the run off a feed from Redding to make it 14-13 with 6:24 remaining, but the Penmen could not find the equalizer the rest of the way.
NOTES
  • Knowlton leads the Northeast 10 in scoring with 23 goals and 10 assists (33 points). She matched a season/career best with five goals, while her eight points marked a career high.
  • Redding finished with four points on two goals and two assists, matching a season-high.
  • Cuddahy added two goals, while junior Charlotte Brown (Cheshire, Conn.) also tallied twice and added an assist.
  • Freshman Abby Bouffard (Biddeford, Maine) and redshirt sophomore Mazie Burt (Waterford, Vt.) each scored for the Penmen.
  • Bouffard collected a game-high seven draw controls, while freshman Shea Sullivan (Madbury, N.H.) added five. 
  • Southern New Hampshire held a 16-13 edge in draw controls and converted four of five free-position opportunities.
  • Sophomore Corrina Moulton (Barre, Vt.) made nine saves in goal for SNHU.
  • SNHU still leads the all-time series with the Owls 16-5, but Southern Connecticut has won the last two meetings.
