Graduate student Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) went 4-for-5 with four extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs, and drove in five, but the 16th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team suffered a third-walk off loss to 30th-ranked Bentley University in a four-game sweep. The Falcons scored twice in the ninth for an 8-7 victory Tuesday at DeFelice Field.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • A solo home run by junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) in the second inning and a two-run shot in the fourth from Cisco staked Southern New Hampshire to a 3-0 lead.
  • Bentley tied it with a two-run bomb in the fourth and a solo homer in the fifth, before Cisco's solo shot in the sixth put the Penmen back in front, 4-3.
  • The Falcons struck twice in the sixth to go on top, 5-4, but Cisco came through again with a two-run double to right that leapfrogged SNHU back in front, 6-5, in the seventh.
  • After Bentley tied it in the home half of the seventh, the Penmen took a 7-6 lead in the top of the ninth when Cisco doubled to left and scored the go-ahead run on a two-out single to left by senior Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.).
  • Bentley opened the last of the ninth by taking the third pitch of the inning deep to center to knot the game, 7-7. A walk and two singles loaded the bases before a wild pitch brought home the winning run.
  • Cisco finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored.
  • Lavigne was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
  • Senior Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) went 1-for-4 with a walk and a pair of runs scored.
  • Valera was 1-for-5 with the home run, RBI and run scored.
  • Senior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) started and allowed three runs on three hits over four-and-a-third innings, striking out a pair, walking one and hitting a pair of batters.
  • Junior Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) relinquished two runs on three hits over an inning-and-two-thirds, striking out two and walking a batter.
  • Redshirt-junior Zachary Brassill (No. Hampton, N.H.) worked an inning-and-a-third, giving up a run on two hits, while fanning a pair and hitting two batters.
  • Freshman Zak Whitney (Keene, N.H.) made the first relief of appearance of his collegiate career and suffered his first loss. Whitney (2-1), who was 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA over his previous 21-and-two-thirds innings, gave up two runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning. He punched out a batter and issued a walk.
NOTES
  • SNHU, ranked 16th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 and receiving votes in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II Baseball Coaches Poll, had won 12 of its last 15, including nine of 11, seven of eight and five straight, but has now dropped four-in-a-row at the hands of Bentley.
  • Bentley is ranked 30th in the ABCA poll and is receiving votes in the NCBWA poll.
  • Bentley leads the all-time series, 49-44, and has won seven of the last eight meetings, despite the Penmen being victorious in 14 of the last 22. The Penmen have also won 13 of the last 18 at Bentley.
  • Valera's home run is his second of the season – and in as many games – and seventh of his career.
  • Cisco's two long-balls are his first in a Penmen uniform, as well as the 16th and 17th of his career.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Sunday (March 29) when they open their home slate by playing host to American International College in a noon doubleheader at Penmen Field.
