NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team had seven of its members recognized with NE10 All-Conference honors, with six of them being tabbed as First Team selections, when the league office announced its end-of-the-season honors Wednesday morning.
Freshman Aurel Creveuil (Nanterre, France) garnered First Team honors at No. 2 singles and also received an All-Rookie Team nod. Creveuil, who joined the Penmen second semester, is 6-4, including 3-0 in NE10 play.
Junior Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) joined Creveuil on the First Team at No. 3 singles. He is 12-6 this season, including 11-5 at No. 3 and 7-2 in league play.
Junior Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) and sophomore Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal) were also First Teamers at No. 1 doubles. The duo is 7-7 this season, including 4-1 in NE10 action.
Freshman Tristan Chandler (APO (Armed Forces-Europe)) and sophomore Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) rounded out the Penmen First Teamers at No. 2 doubles. Chandler, individually, landed a spot on the All-Rookie Team. The tandem is 6-3 this season, including 3-1 at No. 2 and 4-1 in conference play.
Preto was also a Second Team pick at the top singles flight. He is 12-7 this season, including 10-6 at the top flight and an impressive 7-1 in the NE10.
Preto was joined on the Second Team by sophomore Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) at No. 5 singles. Castaneda has gone 13-4 to this point, including 8-3 at No. 5 and 7-1 in league play.
The Penmen are 10-10, including 5-5 in league play and earned the No. 3 seed for the NE10 Championship. SNHU, which is hosting the NE10 Championship, takes on second-seeded Assumption University in a semifinal match Thursday, April 30 (1:30 p.m.) at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown.
