Junior Casey Cumiskey (Milltown, N.J.) went 4-for-9 and drove in three runs, as the 21st-ranked and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University baseball team suffered a 3-2 loss to 19th-ranked and second-seeded Bentley University, but bounced back with a 10-3 triumph over fourth-seeded Adelphi University on Friday at Penmen Field to reach the finals of the Northeast 10 Championship for the second consecutive season.
HIGHLIGHTS — GAME 1 VS. BENTLEY
- Southern New Hampshire went in front with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning on RBI singles from Cumiskey and junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.).
- After Bentley pushed one across on an RBI groundout in the sixth, it leapfrogged in front on a two-run shot off the bat of Nick Pappas in the top of the seventh that made it 3-2.
- A lead-off double by senior Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.) to start the bottom of the ninth put the Penmen in business, but they would strand runners at the corners to end the game.
- Cumiskey finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Junior Jacob Albert (Pelham, N.H.) was 1-for-3 with a walk.
- Freshman Zak Whitney (Keene, N.H.) allowed three runs on eight hits over seven-and-two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three.
- Junior Jack Davis (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) struck out one and walked one in an otherwise-perfect inning-and-a-third of work.
HIGHLIGHTS — GAME 2 VS. ADELPHI
- Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a run-scoring single from graduate student Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) and an RBI groundout by Cumiskey.
- A two-run double by Albert doubled the Penmen lead in the second, before he came home on an error to make it 5-0.
- SNHU struck for three more in the fifth, taking advantage of two Adelphi errors to score three unearned runs and stretch the lead to 8-0.
- The Panthers grabbed those three back in the sixth before a Cumiskey run-scoring single in the home half nudged the Penmen advantage to 9-3.
- Senior Dakota Britt (Rockwall, Texas) made it an even 10 runs for the hosts with an RBI double in the eighth.
- Britt was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
- Graduate student Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs scored.
- Pisano (RBI) and senior JR Bozek (Danville, N.H; two runs) were both 2-for-5.
- Albert went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, a pair of RBI and scored a run.
- Lavigne was 1-for-3 with a walk, RBI and run scored.
- Senior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) improved to 6-1 on the season, as he allowed three runs two earned – on three hits over five-and-a-third innings, fanning three and walking just one.
- Graduate student Noah Wachter (Concord, N.H.) struck out three and walked a pair in a hitless two-and-two-thirds innings.
- Freshman Shawn Taylor (Sewell, N.J.) threw just nine pitches in a perfect ninth.

- Southern New Hampshire, ranked 21st in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25, 22nd in the D2 Baseball Top 25 and 25th in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II Baseball Coaches Poll, has won 28 of the last 31, including five of six.
- Bentley is ranked 19th in the ABCA Coaches Poll and receiving votes in both the NCBWA Top 25 and D2 Baseball Top 25.
- The Penmen move to 25-14 (.641) in their 13th all-time appearance in the NE10 Championship, including 4-3 against Bentley and 6-0 versus Adelphi.
- SNHU advances to the NE10 finals via the loser's bracket and will need to defeat Bentley two times Saturday. The Penmen are in the finals for the sixth time and the second straight season. They are in search of their fifth NE10 title and first since 2022.
- The Penmen reach 40 wins for the ninth time in program history and the first time since 2023. It also marks the first time winning 40 games under third-year head coach Chris Shank, who is now 109-46 (.703) since taking over ahead of the 2024 season.
- Bentley leads the all-time series, 50-44, and has won eight of the last nine meetings, despite the Penmen being victorious in 14 of the last 23. The Falcons have also won five of six, including four straight, at SNHU. Bentley is 5-0 against SNHU this season, though four of the wins have now come by a single run, with the average margin of victory across all five wins being 2.6 runs.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Adelphi, 22-13, and has won seven of the last eight, including four of five this season. SNHU has also captured 14 of 15 at Penmen Field.
- Cumiskey has both the longest hitting streak (13) and reached base streak (30) on the team.
- SNHU moves to 19-2 at home this season and is now 179-40 (.817) at Penmen Field since the beginning of the 2014 season.
