Senior Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) scored her fourth goal of the season, but the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 3-1 loss to 10th-ranked Assumption University on Wednesday evening at Larkin Field.
KEY MOMENT
Assumption took an early lead when Julia Carbone scored off an assist from Marta Brzoska at 2:18, but the Penmen answered less than three minutes later. Sophomore Olivia Andersen (Madbury, N.H.) set up Demers for the equalizer at 5:06.
The Greyhounds regained the lead at 20:33 when Caroline Mastergeorge scored off an assist from Daisy Stone on a penalty corner and carried the 2-1 advantage into halftime. Nova Rijks converted a penalty stroke at 42:08 to account for the final margin.
NOTES
- Demers' fourth goal of the season moved her into a tie with sophomore Kim Dull (Wilnis, The Netherlands) for the team lead.
- Andersen recorded her first assist of the season after scoring her first career goal in Monday's 6-0 victory over D'Youville.
- Dull led the Penmen with seven shots, including three on goal.
- Sophomore Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) made a season-high nine saves.
