John Vaughn

John Vaughn, a 1978 graduate of Providence College, was namedwomen's volleyball coach at Southern New Hampshire University onJuly 6, 2000. Vaughn is the 10th head coach in program history.

Vaughn collected his 100th career victory during the 2010 seasonand has led the Penmen to double digit wins in four of the lastfive years and seven times in his 11 seasons.  Prior to that,the Penmen had not won at least 10 games in nearly 15 years.

The program increased its win total in each of its first fourseasons under the direction of Vaughn, and in 2004 he led SNHU to a16-12 overall record and its first-ever appearance in theNortheast-10 Conference Tournament.

Vaughn arrived at SNHU with nearly two decades of coachingexperience. He spent 14 years as the girl's volleyball coach atManchester (NH) Central High School and led CHS to the Class Lstate championship tournament 13 times. He guided the Little Greento a state championship in 1990.

In his final season he led CHS to a 13-5 record and the semifinalsof the state tournament. His efforts earned him Class L Coachof the Year honors for the second time. 17 of his formerplayers were recognized as all-state selections during his 14-yearcareer.

Vaughn began his coaching career at Coe-Brown Academy inNorthwood, NH, where he spent four years as girl's volleyball coachbefore moving on to Central High.

Vaughn also has extensive service with the New Hampshire JuniorOlympic volleyball program, working with both Hardrock Volleyballout of Milford, NH and Seacoast Volleyball. He led Hardrock to twostate titles and also guided Hardrock's 14-and-under team to asecond place showing at the New England championships. He has ledthe Seacoast 14-and-under team to back-to-back New England Regionalchampionships in 2001 and 2002.

He has also served as vice president of the New HampshireVolleyball Coaches Association.

A native of Weymouth, MA., Vaughn was a member of the volleyballteam at Providence and earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in economicsand social studies education from the college.

Vaughn currently serves as a member of the faculty at LondonderryHigh School. He resides in Auburn, NH with his wife Paula anddaughters Caitlyn and Kelsey.
