SNHU, SAINT MICHAEL'S
BATTLE TO 1-1 TIE
BOX SCORE
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Daniel Hernandez
(Salem, NH) scored his first collegiate goal midway through the
first half, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer
team had to settle for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Saint
Michael's College in a Northeast-10 match Wednesday
afternoon. The Penmen are unbeaten (2-0-2) in their last four
games and are now 4-4-5 overall and 4-3-2 in NE-10 play, while the
Purple Knights are 9-2-4 and 4-2-4 in the league.
Hernandez, a freshman, got the
Penmen on the board in the 32nd minute when he took a pass from
Gabe Mercier (Middleboro, MA) and fired it
home. Southern New Hampshire would lead 1-0 at halftime and
held that lead until there were 36 seconds remaining in
regulation. Saint Michael's would tie the game at the 89:24
mark when Jack Killian scored his first goal of the season on an
assist from Yoshikazu Ishii. Neither team would find the back
of the net in two 10-minute overtime sessions.
Dan Pelc
(Hamilton, ONT) did not make a save for Southern New Hampshire,
which outshot Saint Michael's 12-6. Tim Williamson stopped
four shots for the Purple Knights.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it travels to face Le Moyne College in a 2:30
match.
