MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS SAINT
ROSE 3-0
BOX SCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sean Lambert
(Rehoboth, MA) made two saves en route to his second shutout of the
season as Southern New Hampshire University posted a 3-0
Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over The College of Saint Rose at
Larkin Field Saturday night. The Penmen, who are 2-0-1 in
their last three games, improved to 4-4-4 overall and 4-3-1 in
NE-10 play, while the Golden Knights are now 1-10-1 and 1-7-1 in
the league.
The hosts would get on the board in
the ninth minute on an own goal. Simon
Kearney (Barrow-upon-Humber, England) delivered a low
crossing pass into the box from the right side. A Saint Rose
defender would knock in the pass inadvertently before Golden Knight
keeper Patrick Whalen (Conklin, NY) could make a
play on it.
SNHU would strike twice in the
second half. Matt Delaney (Wallasey,
England) would make it 2-0 when he converted a penalty kick at the
63:31 mark after a foul by Whalen in the box. Kearney would
add the third goal with 8:18 remaining when he took a pass from
Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) near midfield,
dribbled into the box, made moves around two CSR defenders and
fired a low liner past Whalen.
Lambert made two saves for his
second shutout in three starts and has only allowed one goal in
three games this season. Whalen made five saves for the
guests, who were outshot 11-7.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Saint Michael's
College for a 3:30 contest.
