Men's Basketball Falls to Dominican 84-72

CALDWELL, N.J. - Despite a career-high 29 points from
senior Sam Carey (Manchester, NH), the Southern
New Hampshire University men's basketball team fell to Dominican
College 84-72 in the second round of the ECAC/Commerce Bank Classic
hosted by Caldwell College Sunday. The Chargers improve to
5-2 overall, while the Penmen are 4-6 on the season.
Carey finished 11-18 from the floor
and 8-9 from the free throw line while also grabbing nine
rebounds. Troy Bowen (Nashua, NH) finished
with 15 points, while Gerald Carter (Harlem, NY)
added 12 points. Will Carty drained four three-pointers and
led Dominican with 18 points.
Dominican jumped out to a 45-35
lead at halftime after making seven of their 10 three-point
attempts in the first half and shooting 55.2% from the floor.
The Penmen shot 50% from the field in the opening 20 minutes but
were just 14-33 in the second half and just 4-11 from three-point
land. The Chargers also held a 30-29 rebounding advantage.
