SMITHFIELD, R.I. - A goal by Kyle Tierney with 11:17 to play lifted host Bryant University to a 1-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon.  The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Penmen suffered their first loss of the 2007 season as they now stand at 1-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.

Tierney's goal came on the corner kick in the 78th minute.  SNHU keeper Dan Pelc (Hamilton, ONT) knocked away the initial cross from the corner, but Tierney knocked in the rebound for his first goal of the season.  The tally was unassisted.

Tom Madden made four saves for Bryant en route to the shutout as the Bulldogs outshot Southern New Hampshire 13-5, including an 8-2 advantage in the second half.  Pelc made six saves and saw his shutout streak halted at 408:50.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday night when it hosts Stonehill College in a 7:00 match at Larkin Field.
