MEN'S SOCCER EDGED AT
BRYANT

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - A goal by Kyle Tierney with 11:17 to
play lifted host Bryant University to a 1-0 Northeast-10 men's
soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday
afternoon. The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 on the season, while
the Penmen suffered their first loss of the 2007 season as they now
stand at 1-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.
Tierney's goal came on the corner
kick in the 78th minute. SNHU keeper Dan
Pelc (Hamilton, ONT) knocked away the initial cross from
the corner, but Tierney knocked in the rebound for his first goal
of the season. The tally was unassisted.
Tom Madden made four saves for
Bryant en route to the shutout as the Bulldogs outshot Southern New
Hampshire 13-5, including an 8-2 advantage in the second
half. Pelc made six saves and saw his shutout streak halted
at 408:50.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action on Wednesday night when it hosts Stonehill College in a 7:00
match at Larkin Field.
