SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Lucius Millinder totaled 16 points to lead American International College to a 71-52 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the SNHU Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.  The Yellow Jackets improved to 6-7 overall and 3-5 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are 5-7 and 2-6 in the league.

Millinder finished 5-7 from the floor and 4-5 from three-point land.  Ryan Leak added 12 points and Vernon Dupree 10 for AIC.  Troy Bowen (Nashua, NH) was the lone Penmen in double figures with 11 points.  Chase Miller (Fairfax, VA) added eight points for SNHU.

The Penmen jumped out to a 8-0 lead just over two minutes into the game following a Bowen basket, but the Yellow Jackets would chip away at the lead and a basket by Dupree with 12:42 left in the first half tied the game at 15.  American International then went on a 24-4 run and a jumper by Byron Richards 2:04 before halftime gave the Yellow Jackets a 39-19 lead.  AIC would hold a 41-21 lead at halftime.

SNHU did get the lead down to 18, 45-27, with 16:22 to play on a Miller basket but AIC used a 9-2 spurt to take a 54-29 lead with 12:45 to go.  The Yellow Jackets took their largest lead, 67-35, on a basket by Millinder with 8:21 left.

AIC shot 51.9% in the opening 20 minutes and 47.3% for the contest while holding the Penmen to 30.4% shooting.  SNHU also hit just four of its 30 three-point attempts.  American International outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 42-32.

SNHU returns to action Thursday when it host crosstown rival Saint Anselm College.  Tipoff is slated for 7:30 pm.
