No. 5 SNHU Men's Soccer Prevails in Battle of Nationally-Ranked Teams

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - No. 5 Southern New Hampshire University scored three goals in a span of 9:05 late in the second half to post a 3-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over No. 14 Le Moyne College at Larkin Field Saturday afternoon.  The Penmen, who retain their hold on first place in the NE-10, improve to 11-1-2 and 7-0-2 in the league, while the Dolphins, who entered the game second in the Northeast-10, are now 9-3-2 and 6-3-1 in the league.

With the win, SNHU extends its unbeaten streak to 11 games (9-0-2), while the Dolphins had their six-game unbeaten streak snapped.

In what had been a scoreless game up to that point, SNHU got on the board in the 73rd minute.  A Le Moyne defender headed a ball back to Dolphin keeper Steve White, but the ball sailed over White's head and into his goal for an own goal.  The Penmen made it 2-0 at the 79:53 mark when Adrian Schippers (Ashby, MA) made a spin move around a Dolphin defender and scored, with Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) assisting.  73 seconds later, Daniel Hernandez (Salem, NH) took a long pass from Rob Lucas (Hooksett, NH) and one-timed a shot past White.

Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) went the distance in goal for the Penmen and was not forced to make a save en route to his seventh shutout of the season and SNHU's 11th in 14 games.  White made four saves for Le Moyne.  The Penmen held a 16-5 shot advantage in the contest, including a 10-1 margin in the second half.

SNHU returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts defending national champion Franklin Pierce University in a 7:00 contest at Larkin Field.
