No. 17 Women's Soccer Ties Southern Connecticut 1-1

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - A penalty kick by Danielle Quinlan (North Andover, MA) with 4:32 remaining in regulation lifted No. 17 Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 women's soccer Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Penmen, who are unbeaten in their last six games, are now 6-1-2 overall and 5-1-1 in NE-10 play, while the Owls are 6-3-1 and 4-2-1 in the league.

Southern New Hampshire was down 1-0 at halftime and trailed until just under five minutes to play when Sophia Saint Paul (Brockton, MA) was fouled in the box and the Penmen were awarded a penalty kick.  Quinlan, a freshman, buried the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.  SNHU would outshoot SCSU 4-0 in the two overtime sessions but could not find the back of the net.

Southern Connecticut scored its lone goal at the 27:17 mark.  Christina Nunes scored, with Jenna Mallico recording the assist.

SNHU keeper Stef Young (Natick, MA) recorded three saves while Owl goalie Katie DiDio made six saves.  The hosts held a 22-10 shot advantage on the afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Assumption College for a 7:00 contest.
